NEGOTIATING AN AGREEMENT (25 minutes group exercise with minutes documentation) Work in your assigned Groups for presentations. Then split the group in two. Within your group you will work in two teams. Each Team want to reach their goals. Negotiation between the two teams will take place. At the end you must reach an agreement. The agreement should look professional enough to contain aspects that could be later on used to draft a contract between both parties involved.Assign the role to one person to DOCUMENT THE MINUTES OF THIS MEETING. The other members play the role of the negotiators on behalf of both parties. At the end review the minutes all together. Put your names on the document. HAND THEM IN ELECTRONICALLY ON MOODLE Aswell as IN WRITING TO YOUR TEACHER on a one A4 PAPER. Team A Consists of the Marketing Manager(s) and the Chief Negotiator for Getaway, a tour operator. Team B Consists of the Commercial Relations Manager(s) and the Chief Negotiator for Vistas, a chain travel agent. Team A look at the text below. TEAM A: GET AWAY Read and discuss your negotiating position and write the minutes of the meeting Team A; You can offer: 1. Give 11-12% of commission 2. An incentive for sales staff; 80 cents paid to the sales staff that confirms the booking if the payment is made monthly and $1 if the payment is made quarterly 3. Educational for the travel agency to India 4. Acknowledge complaints within five days and where possible to give a full explanation within three weeks. Often a lot of time is needed to check up on all the facts Team A: You want: 1. One guaranteed eye-level racking in all agencies Team B look at the text below. TEAM B: VISTAS Read and discuss your negotiating position and write a minute of meeting Team B You can offer: 1. Guaranteed eye-level racking in larger agencies, but smaller shops will display brochures at their own discretion Team B You want: 1. Commission at least 13.5% 2. An incentive for sales staff; $1.25 per person paid to the sales staff who confirms the booking. This would be paid monthly. 3.
